Girly Girl

AJ is developing into quite the girly girl. She loves dressing up, wearing necklaces, bracelets, tutus and putting clips in her hair all by herself. If given the choice she wants to only wear dresses to school. She loves getting her nails painted, putting on lip gloss, picking out outfits and buying shoes! She is into playing princess, calls herself Princess AJ and just recently starting doing "ballet" - she has even asked if we could go to a ballet class - hopefully in September! I LOVE THIS!

FROGS!

Last week at Little Explores class AJ got to pet a frog Mrs Barbara caught in the frog pond - pretty cool right!?!

5 Months!

At 5 months old Dylan is an eater! He has had rice cereal, oatmeal, about every baby food out there (he seems to like veges more then fruit but turns nothing away!), sorbet, mashed poatoes, some very thin sliced apples, bread and most recently puffs! He has his very first sippy cup (Thanks Aunt Michele) complete with his name on it and he has figured out how to take a sip every once in a while! He loves sitting in the walker, pushing backwards and playing with toys. He mostly bangs them around and eats them! He is still a champ in the jumparoo and he still is going good with tummy time. While laying on his belly he pushes his legs like crazy like he's trying to get somewhere but to no avail! He loves laughing at his sister, playing with his feet, dinner time with the family and bath time. He happily yells and is starting to babble a little while chewing on his hands. He is still such a smiler and just a really good natured baby. Can't wait to see what the next month brings - I can hardley believe he is almost a 1/2 year old!

TOES!

Recently Dylan LOVES playing with his little toes and it's the cutest thing ever!

Mommy's Girl!

My mother gave AJ a pack of seeds last week when we were there and ever since AJ has been dying to plant them! Finally I dug out the gardening pots, soil and digger from the garage and we planted away. AJ has been watering them daily and we put them in the sun each day and bring them inside each night. Can't wait to see if they grow - I hope so - she is really into this! Can't wait to plant our basil, parsley and other veges outside once it's a little warmer! Now that's MY daughter!

BBQ Teriyaki Chicken Drumsticks & Arugula Salad w/ Lemon Vinegarette

Chicken-
1/2 cup of your favorite teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
Trader Joe's Chicken drumsticks

Salad-
TJ's Wild Arugula
Cherry tomatoes cut into quaters
Red onion
Diced yellow pepper
Sliced black olives
4 baby carrots cut into small slivers

Dressing-
1/2 lemon juiced
2 TBS olive oil
1 clove of garlic grated
Fresh ground pepper and salt

Mix the teriyaki sauce and olive oil and marinate the chicken in it for a few hours. Grill on low heat for 10-15 minutes, turn them and then cook 10-15 minutes more! Mix salad and mix dressing and pour dressing over and enjoy! Alex and I are LOVING this dressing - so light and refreshing! AWESOME dinner & super cheap! We have been having these weekly since the weather has been nice and is perfect for grilling!

Pizza Trader Joe's Style

So I used TJ's whole wheat dough, TJ's fat free sauce in a jar, TJ's light shredded cheeses (mozz on the traditional one and cheddar/pepper jack mix on the mexican one), TJ's basil and Cathy's mexican chicken to make these and they were both super great! LOVE lower calorie pizza night!

Dylan's 1st Train Ride

Today we had an open house so we had to be out from 1-3 - it was the perfect day to go to the zoo! We brought some lunch and had a great time walking around checking out the animals - the train is finally open for the season and so Dylan got to experience his first ride - he loved it and of course smiled the whole time. AJ loved getting to go on the merry go round with Daddy for a change and I even think Daddy loved it too!

Matthew's 1st Communion

We had a wonderful evening tonight celebrating cousins Matthew's 1st Communion. AJ & Dylan were both great in church - AJ loved making the sing of the cross with everyone and Dylan was his usual smiley self. After church we all went back to Tracy's for a fun party with lots of kids running around (AJ was in her glory) great food and really yummy desserts!

Sitting Up & Practicing Standing!

Dylan is working on sitting up all by himself and loves to stand for short periods of time. First thing in the morning when Alex and I bring him into our bed and lay him on a pillow he pulls to sit right up - he's like "Ma I've been laying all night - I want up!" AJ was playing in her sandbox and Dylan was watching away so I brought him over and let him sit for a bit - he had a great time and seemed so happy (as usual)! Love this kid - he is the best!

Baby Lola!

Today we had a really fun play date at Juna's and got to meet baby Lola, Fiona's new little sister! Introducing the 5th member of the gang -

Dylan Sutton Matrale - Baptism - 4/10/10

Godmother - Noelle Hart
Godfather - Peter Matrale

St. Philomena's Church - Livingston, NJ
Il Vicolo - Livingston, NJ

It was a such a blessing to have our family there to share with us a important day in our son's life. Dylan was happy and smiled through most of church - the priest even laughed out loud during a prayer because there Dylan was smiling him in the face! The party after was great - the food was great and so was the company! What a nice day we had!
