Pajama Day

I love that on Halloween instead of getting the kids all dressed for school we get to send them in PJ's! AJ was excited to wear her new Stomeez slippers, her new kitty cat pj's and bring her new Cuddleuppet!!!

Amicalola Falls State Park

Today was the perfect day - we had perfect sunny cool fall weather and fall foliage is at it's peak so we decided it was the perfect day to get out into nature and enjoy it! Amicalola Falls State Park is BEAUTIFUL! It's the start of the Appalachia Trail that starts here in GA and leads all the way to Maine. We started off with a easy hike to the falls. It's a flat short path that is easy for anyone and wheel chair accessible. I recommend it to anyone - the view is amazing and the falls are breath taking! From there we drove back down the mountain and did a much harder trail that lead to the reflecting pond which the falls all lead into. The kids did great - they had a blast and really appreciated that their efforts lead to something so pretty! After that we went back to the picnic area and had lunch and played on the playground. We had a great afternoon and will definitely get back there - hopefully soon!

BOO!

Today we got boo-ed by our neighbors! They left some halloween treats for the kids, rang the bell and ran. Inside was our sign to hang on the door saying we've been boo-ed and instructions to find someone else on the stree who hasn't been boo-ed yet and boo them! Alex and AJ waited till dark and completed the mission! Well almost, I had to sneak back and re-ring the bell because they didn't open the door the first time. I ran diagonal across the street so I wouldn't be seen and then hid in another neighbors bushes (who we don't really know yet). Well, I got caught by them coming out to their car and had to explain why a grown lady was hiding in their bushes! LOL!

50th Day 50's Party!

Today AJ celebrated her 50th day of school, 50's style! They all had to dress like someone in the 50's would, they had root beer floats, hula hooped, chewed gum, made 50's hats and danced and listened to 50's music! It was SO cute and I was SO happy to be the class volunteer!

Healthy Lunch?

Today was bring your parent to lunch day at AJ's school to show the parents how healthy the food served in the cafeteria is. Healthy lunches at school - yeah right!! Just cuz you give me a side salad and a pile of canned peas it doesn't make my chocolate milk, processed nuggets, processed mozz sticks, smile face fries or fruit in high fructose corn syrup any better!! It was still fun to have lunch together though! Yes, I will happily continue to make my AJ's, Dylan's and Alex's daily lunches!!

Pumpkin Picking!

It's a beautiful fall Saturday here in GA so we decided to take advantage of the fact that we have a 3:30 PM game and we headed north to the Kinsey Family Farm in Gainsville. It's BEAUTIFUL there and the owners our old Livingston peeps that are friends of the family! The kids picked their pumpkins, we did the hay ride down to the lake were we fed the cat fish (which were HUGE and were feeding like crazy), we fed the cows, goats and ducks and we got some cider and organic zucchini chocolate chip bread to go!

Writing Time

Today I got to be the writing time helper in AJ's class. The kids are learning about dolphins and had to write down 2 sentences about them. AJ's sentences were "Dolphin's have blowholes" and "Dolphins eat fish". I was very proud to see her writing so well and sounding out her words. All the kids did great and it was fun to walk around and help with sounding out, spelling and forming sentences! I love getting to spend so much time at my kids schools and really being involved in their lives - nothing better!

We're Still Having Fun...

...and after 8 married years, Alex is STILL THE ONE! Love him, love our kids, love "US"! We have been through so much together, he is my best friend and my world. I am still SO head-over-heels in love with my high school sweet-heart! This year we decide to spend a relaxing, romantic evening in. This year our Anniversary fell on a Monday and neither one of us felt like going out. We ordered in from a great Italian place - linguine carbonara, chicken marsala, sautéed spinach and for dessert - chocolate cheesecake and strawberries. The champagne and wine were flowing and we sat at the dining room table and ate by candle light with some iTunes playing in the background (Sting & JT of course). It was special and both kids cooperated and feel asleep early so we could enjoy our adult night in together! Alex - I LOVED YOU THEN, I LOVE YOU NOW AND I CAN'T WAIT TO LOVE YOU ALWAYS! I have always been lucky in love, with you!
PS - Thank you for my favorite flowers, the ones I walked down the isle with 8 years ago today!
